A Paula Deen Recipe with NO BUTTER! *Gasp*

22 January 2010 No Comment

I usually tend to stray away from many Paula Deen recipes. I mean, they look delicious and all, but do I really feel like getting a triple-bypass surgery at 25? On the other hand, I’m definitely cool with peanut butter and I found a great Paula Deen peanut butter cookie recipe off of foodnetwork.com. Funny thing is, it’s kind of your basic, classic peanut butter cookie recipe with her name slapped on top (featuring Hershey Kiss centers, which is not so original IMO)

I like the recipe because it really gives a strong peanut flavor and with the addition of a tablespoon of flour (as a reviewer suggested), the texture comes out wonderfully.

Peanut Butter Cookies ( Original recipe )

  • 1 cup of smooth peanut butter
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tblsp flour
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  2. Add egg, peanut butter and sugar into a medium bowl – mix until smooth, then add flour and continue to combine until smooth.
  3. Take a greased baking pan or one with parchment and spoon half tablespoons of dough, then rolling them into balls. Flatten them with your fingers and create tine marks with a fork in the center. Make sure to seperate cookies by 1 inch because they will expand.
  4. Bake for 10 minutes.

So nutty and flavorful and took me less than 20 minutes from prep to finished baked product. Be sure to finish this cookie off by dusting a little sugar on top and you’re good to go.
