Bruschetta is not actually a type of bread or a topping (a common misconception). Rather it a name describing an Italian bread dish typically served as an appetizer.  Bruschetta is grilled bread rubbed with garlic along with a drizzle of olive oil. There are numerous variations of the dish to include adding cured meats, vegetables, herbs, cheese etc.
